Canninghill Piers has a landmass of an astonishing 100,263 square meters and the proposed development is expected to be equipped with a serviced residence, a hotel, and some commercial units. It is also expected to be directly connected to Fort Canning MRT.
The redevelopment of the site took place after CDL Hospitality Trusts sold the property to CapitaLand and CDL, just so it could eventually be redeveloped on a 50:50 ratio. Ascott Reit has sold some of his property on the site – one good example of this is when Ascott Reit sold the Somerset Liang Court to CDL.
Once the property project has finally been completed, CapitaLand and CDL will own both the residential and the commercial properties. It is also important to note that 192 serviced residential units that have a hotel license will belong to Ascott Reit.
CDLHT is expected to wind up owning the hotel – which will be equipped with anywhere between 460 and 470 rooms – under a forward purchase agreement with CDL. This hotel will operate as Moxy and it will wind up being run by Marriot International. The serviced residences will wind up operating as Somerset.
To add new life to Canninghill Piers, the top three developers in Singapore are also planning on recreating the river promenade. Currently, their plans are going hand-in-hand with URA’s 2019 Master Plan of increasing vibrancy in the area. Due to its strategic location with easy-to-access amenities, the upcoming development project is expected to be a huge success.
CapitaLand, CDL, and Scott Reit are the top three developers that are currently working on the CanningHill project. CapitaLand and CDL share both the residential and the commercial units on a 50:50 basis. Although the hotel is under the ownership of CDL, the serviced apartments that have a hotel license are under the ownership of Ascott Reit.
